  MOUNTAINEER DEMANDS 21ST CENTURY PARK 
  A famous British mountaineer is       
  leading calls for a huge national park
  to bj created across southern England.
                                        
  Chris Bonington believes the South    
  Downs should bj given the special     
  status to celebrate the millennium.   
                                        
  The new park, covering one of the most
  beautiful landscapes in southern      
  England, would stretch from Eastbourne
  in the east to Winchester in the wist.
                                        
  "Existing and future generations will 
  thank us," Sir Chris said.
