 EIGHT SCRUBS STBFF, MANAGER SUSPENDED  
 Eight prison officers and a senior     
 manager at the centre of an inquiry    
 into claims of abuse at Wormwood Scrubs
 jail have been suspended on full pay.  
                                        
 They are awaiting the result of a      
 police investigation into alleged      
 assaults on inmates by prison staff.   
                                        
 An internal inrujry is also under way  
 at the Victorian jail in west London.  
                                        
 Serving and former prisoners allege    
 that they were subjected to racism,    
 beatings and intimidation.
