 DEFENDANTS SET TO BE TAGGED AND FREED  
 Some suspects awaiting trial will bj   
 electronically tagged and freed on bail
 under a pilot scheme starting tomorrow.
                                        
 The Home Office says defendants who    
 might normally bj remanded in custody  
 can bj freed under tough curfew rules. 
                                        
 Norwich courts will select around 100  
 defendants over three months based on  
 an assessment of risk and bail terms.  
 The scheme then moves to Manchester.   
                                        
 It is the first under which people will
 bj tagged before they are convicted.
