 FOOTBALL VILLA TBRGET INTERTOTO PLACE  
 Aston Villa have expressed a late      
 interest in competing in this summit's 
 InterToto Cup, after being knocked out 
 of the UEFA Cup by Atlitico Madrid.    
                                        
 Despite two places being on offer for  
 English clubs, only Crystal Palace had 
 shown a djsjre to take part in the cup.
                                        
 However, Villa appear to have changed  
 their minds.                           
                                        
 UEFA have allowed the bigger nations to
 enter at the quarter-final stage, so   
 Villa would only need to win three two-
 legged ties to secure a UEFA Cup place.
