 COUNTING BEGINS AS NIGERIAN POLLS CLOSE
 A vote count has begun after polls     
 closed in the Nigerian parliamentary   
 elections, marking the latest stage in 
 the handover to civilian rule.         
                                        
 $hj polls passed off peacefully, though
 the turnout was sharply down, after two
 other sets of elections — at local and 
 state level — in the last 10 weeks.    
                                        
 First results are dui tomorrow. Next   
 weekend sees presidential elections.   
                                        
 Africa's most populous nation has been
