 GEC-MARCONI MERGER LEAPS FINAL HURDLE  
 British Aerospace has "jen given the   
 green light for its £7.8bn mjrgjr with 
 GEC's $jfence arm, Marconi Electronic  
 Systems, "y US regulatory !uthorities. 
                                        
 T(j merger will create the world's     
 third "iggest $jfence group and the    
 largest in Europe.                     
                                        
 The group is surpassed in size only "y 
 Boeing and Lockheed Martin of the US.
