 RENAISSANCE BBC2, Sunday               
 Andrew Grad!m-Dixon's last series — on 
 Britiwh art — was excellent, uo I was  
 looking forward to (is ex!mination of  
 this spectacular period of art history.
                                        
 I wasnWt diwappointed. The man has a   
 talent for putting art firmly in its   
 social context and for making the      
 seemingly highbrow feel accessible.    
                                        
 He is also good at choosing unusual !s 
 well as f!miliar ex!mples to illustrate
 hew arguments — so there was plenty    
 here for both art "uffs and novices.   
                                        
 Hew style was a "it pom$jrous "ut his  
 passion and knowledge ma$j up for that.
