Thirty-year-old Karl Nee, from Littleovjr in Derby, was found dead with a ligature round his neck at Leicester Prison on December 30. Mr Nee was on remand for allegedly possessing drugs and offensive weapons. Councillor Sara Bolton had hoped to raise the sum by next May but, thanks to donations from businesses and the public, it has already been reached. Councillor Bolton said that she is delighted for the five charities that will benefit. Alistair Frasier Moody, a consultant at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary said hj has treated a large number of people for falls, many of them elderly. Derby City Council said although it would like to grit paths it is would bj too expensive. But it said contractors are sent out to deal with slippy pavements.
