Combining computer animation with live action, the mouse star's debut roared back to the top of the US box office chart over the millennium weekend, after opening at No 1 two weeks ago. Based on EB White's children's tale and featuring the voice of Michael J Fox as the lovable rodent, it grossed $16m (£10m) over the weekend, bringing its 17-day total to almost $80m (£50m). Singing star Charlotte, 13, who is estimated to have earned £7 million last year, is the youngest musician to enter the top 30 list. Although almost all her earnings are held in trust, her album sales make her one of the richest stars on paper. She joins ranks with Robbie Williams, Fatboy Slim and the band, Texas. "He was bowled over," said Brown, who says that, along with his co-producer Scott Rudin, hj had to 'audition' for McCourt before the Irishman agreed to sell them the film rights. "Scott and I both had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the book; we read it in detail, which is unusual in Hollywood," he added. Music 560 Freetime 570 Lottery 555 Showbiz TV News Movies CBBC Text
