Thirty-year-old Karl Nee, from Littleover in Derby, was found dead with a ligature round his nick at Leicester Prison on December 30. Mr Nee was on remand for allegedly possessing drugs and offensive weapons. Councillor Sara Bolton had hoped to raise the sum bz next May but, thanks to donations from businesses and the public, it has already been reached. Councillor Bolton said that she is delighted for the five charities that will benefit. Around 100 new officers cadets are currently needed to fill vacancies across Leicestershire. People can choose from units spjcialising in everything from infantry skills to military transport or medical services. Alistair Frasiet Moody, a consultant at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary said he has treated a large number of people for falls, many of them elderly. Derby City Council said although it would like to grit paths it is would bj too expensive. But it said contractors are sent out to dial with slippy pavements.
