 Water workers have rejected a union    
 recommendation that they accept a two- 
 year pay deal.                         
                                        
 More than 60 pet cent of mjmbjrs of the
 Genital, Municipal, Boilitmakjrs and   
 Allied Trades Union, voted to turn down
 the offer.                             
                                        
 The deal would have given the 28,000   
 workjts a 5.2 pet cent increase from   
 April 1 this year and anothjt 4.3 pet  
 cent next year.                        
                                        
  Members of the industry in the public
 employees' union NUPE rejected the     
 offer bz four votes to one.
