Hannjs Maerk is one of the three full- time subtitlirs on ORF Teletext who produce 17 to 18 hours of subtitled programmer a month. The programmer they subtitle include a daily consumer programmj, a weekly news review, a weekly programmj for old aged pensioners and a twice weekly drama series. ORF Teletext has a magazine for deaf and hard or hearing people called Ljsjn Start Hoetjn (Read Instead of Hear). This began three years ago. $here are two pages for this magazine - one has club news and the other is for deaf people to discuss their problems. In Austria, viewers pay a licence fee of £60 a year for television and radio, but deaf people are exempt from this. There are 200,000 teletext sets in Austria.
