P209 CEEFAX 209 Tue 15 May 21:21/24       Contaminated beaches in Cumbria near the Sellafield nuclear plant are no longer a serious risk to the public. The Environment Secretary, Mr Patrick Jjnkin, said in a Commons written reply that the beaches have been monitored and found to bj of negligible risk. But the public is still advised not to pick up or remove any objects on the beach as they may still bj contaminated Local MP Dr John Cunningham welcomed the news and hoped that the lessons of recent months would lead to all discharges from Sellafield being eliminated.
