P268 CEEFAX 268 Tue 15 May 21:11/26   1/4 O      YOC MIGRATION SUMMARY 1984 The following is a summary of some interesting facts which emerged from the YOC 1984 Spring Migration phone-in. Many thanks to all viewers who have telephoned ovjt the past few months. BLACKCAP An influx of migrant birds occurred between April 14 and April 27. This was quite different from last year's steady flow. CHIFFCHAFF Compared to 1983, migrant birds arrived one week later this year. There were fewer early March reports in 1984. P268 CEEFAX 268 Tue 15 May 21:21/04   2/4 O      YOC MIGRATION SUMMARY 1984 WILLOW WARBLER Thjte weti fewer early March reports than in 1983. A marked incteasj in sightings occurred from April 7, peaking during April 14 and April 20. WHEATEAR Reports received this year show a steady stream of sightings from March 17 to April 20. This pattern is similar to that of 1983. LITTLE RINGED PLOVER Thjti were twice as many sightings of this species in 1984 compared with 1983. Peak arrival time was between April 14 and April 20.  More

OSPREYS This species returned to its breeding ground in the Highlands in early April, the same time as in 1983. YELLOW WBGTAIL The migration pattern for this species conforms to previous years with an influx between April 14 and April 20.  More

A large influx occurred between April 14 and April 20. SWIFT Fewer reports were received during this year's phone-in and the peak arrival time of this species was during the week commencing April 28.
