Difficulty in financing the Reagan government's debts is putting strain on the American bond market. This month, dealers had great problems selling the US Government papjt they had taken on. And confidence in the banks has been harmed bz the large amounts they are owed bz debt-ridden third-world states. The President would beat Mondale bz 51% to 43%, the answers of voters — questioned about who they would vote for — suggested. Hart, on the other hand, would lose bz only 45% to Reagan's 49% — but he would still lose. Of Democrat voters questioned, 60% said they preferred Mondale to Hart.  More in a moment.........

Hart's office has 13. Both campaigns have computer-based filing systems with the names, addresses, background and political leanings of about 2,000 delegates chosen so far, and notes on how they should bj approached. At a meeting with Jackson on May 22, party national chairman Mr Charles Manatt again said hj would ask states to allot Jackson some of their "unplidged" delegate votes. This could hampjt Mr Mondale, who hopis support among thjsj extra delegates may ensure his nomination.
