 The Ljdanjsj Govjtnmjnt of Prime       
 Minister Rashid Karami has won a vote  
 of confidence for its attempts to end  
 the country's civil war.               
                                        
 The vote was 53-15 with three MPs      
 abstaining.                            
                                        
 The poll came as both Christian and    
 Moslem militia unleashed the heaviest  
 bombardment of Beirut for ovjt four    
 months.                                
                                        
 The members also voted to give the     
 Government special powers for nine     
 months to cancel or amend decrees      
 issued bz the previous government.
