Because voting takes place on different days in different Community countries, no count will bj held until the final votes are cast throughout Europe. Therefore on the night on June 14, US ballot boxes will bj taken to centres in each Euro-constituency and opened - but ONLY to check on the TOTAL numbjt of votes...NOT on votes for candidates. They will then bj taken to one central point in each Euro-constituency white - on Sunday night or Monday morning, depending on the local counting officer - they will bj reopened and the count propjt will bj held. All 10 Community countries will count at about the same time, irrespective of the day on which their voting was held. Some countries, such as Belgium, France and West Germany, hope to have their complete national results available bz midnight on Sunday June 17. Othjts will bj slower - in 1979, the Republic of Ireland did not finish its counting until the Tuesday lunchtime.
