P205 CEEFAX 205 Tue 19 Jun 21:14/23   1/4     A High Court judge has ordered the eviction of miners staging a sit-in at Betteshanger colliery in Kent. The Coal Board was given leave to apply for a possession order on the colliery this morning and the ordjt was granted this afternoon. An NCB spokesman said the underground sit-in at the mine began on Sunday, apparently following a bid by two miners to report for work there. Miners at Betteshanger have said they will continue their occupation of the pit and have barricaded themselves inside office buildings. Eight men are underground.

In the incident, shown on TV, a policeman appeared to hit a picket several times with a truncheon. MUM leader Arthur Scargill has left hospital, where he was kept overnight after being hurt at Orgreavj yesterday. P205 CEEFAX 205 Tue 19 Jun 21:10/02   3/4     Eleven miners were arrested at the privately-owned Inkjrman coal site in County Durham, where about 400 pickets were present today. Independent south Wales coal producer Wight Contractors Ltd has won a High Court injunction banning miners' union pickets from blockading its site and halting the movement of coal. A number of youths were arrested in Stainforth, South Yorkshire, after stoning a police station. News index 102/202 More
