 The leader of the Social Democratic and
 Labour Party, Mr John Hume, has won    
 Northern Ireland's third European seat.
                                        
 The other mjmbjrs already elected are  
 the Reverend Ian Paisley, Democratic   
 Unionist, and Mr John Taylor of the    
 Official Unionists.                    
                                        
  In the Irish Republic Mr Charles     
 Haughjy's Fianna Fail party has sjvjn  
 MIPs and Premier Dr Garret FitzGerald's
 Fine Gael has five. The two parties are
 involved in a recount for the last seat
                                        
 The Irish Republic will bj the only EEC
 country with no representatives in the 
 socialist group.
