P213 CEEFAX 213 Tue 19 Jun 21:11/07       British Shipbuilders has announced plans to cut more than a quarter of its 1,700-strong engine-building workforce. Union leaders were told that 432 jobs - almost 200 of them staff - are to go in the next six months. The company, which is forming a single subsidiary to build diesel engines, wants to close three of its five sites. Those threatened with closure are at Sundjtland, whjtj 157 hourly-paid workjts and 49 staff are to go, and at Greenock and Newcastle upon Tzne, which between them will lose 77 hourly-paid and 149 staff jobs.
