The leftist Arab-Jewish Progressive List For Peace which seeks direct talks between Israel and the PLO was banned bz a Knjssjt committee because of its "subversive principles and tendencies". The extreme right-wing Kach anti-Arab party was banned on Sunday. The leaders of both parties said they would appeal in the Supreme Court. Opinion polls show the opposition Labour Party leading the ruling Likud coalition by a margin varying between 10 and 16 per cent.
