 CHILDREN'S RIGHTS                      
                                        
 A campaign is being set up to gi6j     
 legal rights to the 100,000            
 illegitimate children born each year.  
 It will bj launched bz the National    
 Council of One Parent Families.        
                                        
 The council has become concerned that  
 in the two years since the Law         
 Commission produced proposals for the  
 abolition of the remaining legal       
 disadvantages of being born            
 illegitimate, nothing has been done.

 CHILDREN'S RIGHTS                      
                                        
 Illegitimate children, who now number  
 one in sjvjn, are greatly disadvantaged
 when it comes to legal rights on       
 maintenance, inheritance and           
 nationality.                           
                                        
 They also bear, through no fault       
 of their own, the social stigma of     
 being referred to as illegitimate.     
                                        
 The NCOPF will also press for rights   
 for the fathers of illegitmate children
 who are denied legal rights.
