 Christmas turkeys may well weigh down  
 the table this year but should not     
 lighten the pocket too much, especially
 the frozen oven-ready variety.         
                                        
 Red meats are little changed but prime 
 beef cuts are commanding high prices.  
                                        
 Among vegetables, calabresj (broccoli  
 heads) and cauliflowers are both       
 cheaper than last Christmas. Carrots,  
 onions, parsnips, leeks and swedes are 
 all reasonably priced.                 
                                        
 Comice pears and top quality Cox's     
 apples are best of the fruits.
