Twenty-two people have been treated in hospital after a chemical leak from a tanker which travelled from Gateshead in Tyne and Wear to Gosforth before the leak was discovered. The environmental group Greenpeace has said at a conference in London that 100 people will die and another 100 will develop non-eatal cancers because of the Soviet nuclear submarine which sank in the Atlantic over a week ago.
