 In 1900 Christianity was mainly in     
 the northern hemisphere -              
 462 million as against 96 million in   
 the southern hemisphere.               
                                        
 Since then the balance has been        
 redressed due to explosive growth in   
 Asia, Africa and Latin America.        
 There are now 733 million Christians   
 in the North and 700 million in the    
 South.                                 
                                        
 Soon the balance will tip and the      
 majority will not be of white          
 European origin.
