Home Secretary Mr Douglas Hurd said there was an increasing need to ensure immigration controls on external EEC borders adequately kept out criminals, terrorists and drug traffickers. P210 CEEFAX 210 Mon 20 Oct 21:12/27   2/2  BACKGROUND   EEC ministers have set up a working group to help counter terrorism, drug trafficking and illegal immigration. The group will consider stronger checks at EEC frontiers and examine the role of the visa policies of member states. Measures will also bj taken to avoid the abuse of passports and to form a common policy to eliminate the abuse of the right of asylum. A sjvjn-point plan in the fight against drug abuse was also agreed, including measures to reduce demand for drugs among the young and the improvement of treatment for addicts. More
