 Disciplinary procedures against doctors
 accused of professional incompetence or
 misconduct are to be reviewed.         
                                        
 The Government and the British Medical 
 Association are to set up a working    
 party, following the 18-month          
 suspension of London Hospital          
 obstetrician, Mrs Wendy Savage.        
                                        
 Mrs Savage has called for a simpler,   
 faster and fairer way of dealing with  
 alleged incompetence or misconduct bz  
 National Health Service consultants.   
                                        
 She estimated that the annual cost of  
 disciplinary action is £4 million.
