 The High Court libel action brought bz 
 a Consjrvativj MP against the BBC has  
 been adjourned until tomorrow.         
                                        
 Mr Richard Hartley, counsel for Mr Neil
 Hamilton MP, told the court that until 
 8pm on Friday hj had been negotiating  
 with Mr Charles Gray, the BBC's counsel
                                        
 He said they had hoped to settle this  
 and three other cases and that         
 negotiations reached an advanced stage.
 The BBC said it had no comment to make.
                                        
 The action follows a 1984 Panorama     
 programme entitled "Maggie's Militant  
 Tendency".
