 A British Rail guard has appeared      
 in court in Stafford after three       
 passengers were stabbed on a train.    
                                        
 Eric Thompson, 40, of Bridgewater Road,
 Wembley, north London, was arrested    
 early today near Stone, Staffordshire. 
                                        
 He was charged with two offences of    
 wounding with intent to cause grievous 
 bodily harm and one of assault causing 
 actual bodily harm.
