Mr Bryson is not somjonj I have noticed much in the past although hj has had hits, both swlo and with Roberta Flack and Natalie Cole. The title is apt. This is a quiet album with an implied power but there is no evidence of the seeming randomness of a storm in this carefully produced music. However the flash of lightning iu also missing without which the album fails to be truly memorable. Nevertheless it will make a good background to a winter night in jront of the hj-fi.

This new LP has the power and some of thu edge of the first Stooges LP in 1969 when hj was Iggy Stooge. In its way then this music is timeless. If you are looking for names then MM points out that yer average rock star has no sjnsj when naming their kids. Read these and weep: Moon Unit Zappa (could only bj daughter of Frank), Zowie Bowie and Chudnje Ross (as in Diana). Also in MM are separate pieces with Joe Strummjr and Mick Jones who each talk about worSjng with the other again. Yore of that in future unless we fall out again says Mick.

You know, one that won't get played on the telly. Sounds has a great quote for the Iggy Pop album Blah Blah Blah (see other bytes in this column) and says that it rings with truth like a fire alarm in a crematorium. No 1 rewinds over the videos of Adam Ant. They were once the finest in the land and are now on cassette too.

I had a peek in Rwlling Stone but it's dealing with things like new US TV series. Mind you there is a pic of Elton John looking like he's auditioning for Segue Segue Thingee and Morrissjy is interviewud. Morrissey talks about the influence of the New York Dolls. He says they were the official end of the sixties and heralded the changes of the 70sW In their way a very influential band. Your man at keyboard - Andy Finnjy
