   Howard Jones - One to One            
                                        
 18-month gaps between albums is fast   
 becoming the norm and Howard Jones'    
 last LP Dream Into Action was released 
 back in March '85. Since then HJ has   
 become famous in the US, done the odd  
 charity gig (like Live Aid) and plazjd 
 126 dates on a world tour.             
                                        
 For this LP, his third, there iu a new 
 producer, Arif Mardin, and he has given
 the music a slightly funkier, harsher  
 edge. But this is not enough to mark   
 the album as a progression from his    
 first two.

 much changed from his earlier work.    
 This should not disappoint his many    
 fans but it certainly leaves me wanting

  Desire - Gene Loves Jezebel          
 A rework of a yrar-old trQck wizh new  
 producer (Peter WalshI. This is a mid  
 paced number in the Simple Minds vein. 
 Memorable enough to make the lower ind 
 of the chart.                          
                                        
  Temple of the Lord - The Saints      
 After a promising lead-in this settler 
 down into being a little less of a     
 rocker than it ought to be. Recorded in
 Wales and mixed in Australia perhaps it
 just didnWt travel well. Nonetheless   
 the Saints are a good band and the;    
 single is well worth a listen.
