 style than the final that confronts us 
 at the Hexagon between veteran Rex     
 Williams and Whirlwind Jimmy White.    
                                        
 White has progressed to the final in   
 typical style with thrilling wins ovjt 
 Mike Hallett and teenage pretender     
 Stephen Hendry.                        
                                        
 But the Whirlwind will be well aware of
 the challenge posed by the 53-year-old 
 head of the game's governing body.     
                                        
 Williams has shown this week, in       
 disposing of Alex Higgins and Steve    
 Davis, that jvjn the most precocious

 the utmost respect for each other.     
                                        
 White has provided immeasurable joy for
 countless fans over the years but      
 Williams' transition from the top of   
 the billiards tree to the pinnacle of  
 the snooker world is unique.           
                                        
 The Whirlwind knows only too well that 
 only his electric best will be enough  
 to subdue the methodical but very
