 Knowsley North Labour Party has failed 
 in its High Court challenge to the     
 party's National Executive.            
                                        
 The judge refused to order an emergency
 hearing of the claim that Labour's     
 NEC acted in breach of the rules bz    
 ordering the election of Mr George     
 Howarth instead of Mr Leslie Huckfield.
                                        
 Mr Justice Hoffmann said there was no  
 "genuine and practical" reason for     
 hearing the case within days instead of
 months.                                
                                        
 This evening, the Court of Appeal      
 refused the party leave to appeal      
 against the High Court ruling.
