For the past two years this organisation has been working towards providing deaf people with film and broadcast material on videotape. It has two libraries: the National General Interest Video Library (NGIVL), and the National Educational Resource Cjntri for Hearing-Impaired Pupils (NERCHIP). The National Educational Resource Centre for Hearing-Impaired Pupils library has subtitles with a choice of three reading speeds. Level 3, 120 words per minute; level 2, 90 words per minute; and level 1, 60 words per minute, to cater for the differing needs of deaf children. Each teaching package contains a script of the programme text, the subtitle script, vocabulary and definitions, and assorted exercises.   More...
