In both 1984-85 and 1985-86 Post Office profits exceeded £Q30 million compared with £17 million in 1983-84. The Post Office Users National Council says that one in eight first class letters 1985-86 failed to arrive on time. But the Post Office points out that in recent months this record has improved as a result of their new "Capital Letters" scheme aimed at improving deliveries between major cities.
