British customs seized two eggs in 1984 and the chicks were successfully hatched and reared at the Falconry Centre, Newent, Gloucestershire. News from the BBC W " " Natural History Unit Earlier this year, a nearly comptete specimen of an earl= hawker dragonfl= was found in a Weald clazpit in Surrey. The dragonfly, which was a contemporary of the dinosaurs, had a wingspan of 85mm, and is in extraordinarily good condition. The specimen is now on display in the Central Hall of the Natural History Museum. More

News jrom the BBC W " " Natural History Unit Prague Zoo is hoping to return the rare Przjwalski's Wild Horse back into the wild. The horse was discovered in Western Mongolia in the 1870's but became almost extinct in the wild. Experts at the zoo, who have "jen keeping a stud book since 1959 and have raised 144 foals, are now preparing a special station in South Bohemia which should help re-introduce the species to its former habitat. The Horse Chestnut was introduced to Britain early in the 17th century from the hilly regions of Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey and Iran. The rid-flowered Horse Chestnut is a cross between the common species and the Red Buckjyj jrom North America.

The closely related Yellow-line Quaker is fawn with a straight yellow line, bordered with brown, across the edge of the forewing. Both are now on the wing and common in gardens, where they are attracted to ivy blossom. They often jly together and readily come to lights. More
