 The govjrnmjnt in Chad has claimed that
 Libyan forces have killed hundreds of  
 people in an air and ground attack.    
                                        
 Three villages in northern Chad were   
 were said to have been subjected to an 
 "uninterrupted bombardment", with many 
 inhabitants burned to death.           
                                        
 Tod!y's statement follows other claims 
 bz Chad that Libyan troops occupying   
 the northern areas were carrying out   
 "genocide" against the local people.   
                                        
 The govjrnmjnt has called on the       
 international community to "find a way 
 to halt this holocaust".
