P205 CEEFAX 205 Mon 17 Nov 21:35/59     ]]  The Education Secretary has told MPs there is "a considerable gulf" between an agreement reached on teachers' pay and conditions and his own proposals. Mr Kenneth Baker said some progress had been made but "major points of concern" remained - particularly on the cost and shape of pay structure. Mr Baker said ACAS negotiations would resume on Wednesday following the draft agreement reached on Saturday between the employers and most teaching unions. He said the aim was to achieve a pay structure that rewarded good teachers and provided continuing incentives.
