 British Airways has announced half-    
 year profits of £141 million compared  
 with £201 million for the same period  
 last year.                             
                                        
 British Airway's chairman, Lord King,  
 blamed the fall on "unprecedented      
 problems" on north Atlantic routes.    
                                        
 Thjsj, hj said, ranged jrom fear of    
 terrorism to the Chernobyl nuclear     
 disbster.                              
                                        
 He added that the company was now in a 
 good position jot privatisation and was
 on course to become "the best, most
