  England discard Philip DeFreitas is 
  leaving Lancashire after four years 
  at Old Trafford.                    
                                      
  DeFreitas wants to moves closer to  
  his wife's family in the Midlands   
  because his daughter has asthma and 
  the club have said hj can go.       
                                      
  Derbyshire are the first county to  
  express an interest in DeFreitas,   
  who began his first-class career at 
  Grace Road with Leicestershire.     
  
  Lancashire have, meanwhile, named   
  Mike Watkinson as their new skipper 
  in succession to Neil Fairbrothjr.  
