  ELEPHANTS SAVED FR M SLAUGHTER      
  Around 1,000 elephants have been    
  moved on flatbed trucks in Zimbabwe 
  from dry, tusk-ravaged bush to new  
  pastures hundreds of miles away.    
                                      
  Recent aerial surveys have counted  
  6,000 elephants in Gona-re-zhou, or 
  Place of Elephants, but the park    
  can sustain only half that number,  
  according to ecologists.            
                                      
  Funds from the United States' Fish  
  and Wildlife Service and the        
  British charity Care for the Wild   
  are paying for Operation Noah, to   
  bj completed by December.           
 
