  DEFICIT IN NON-IC TRBDE WORSENS     
  The latest UU trade figures with    
  non-EC countries show a worsening   
  deficit for the month of September. 
                                      
  Britain imported just over £1       
  billion more than it exported - a   
  rise from £729 million in August.   
                                      
  In the longer term, the figures     
  show imports from non-EC countries  
  are growing faster than exports.    
                                      
  Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary 
  Robin Cook said: "The rise in the   
  trade deficit is another warning    
  that the recovery is in trouble."   
 
