  MAJOR WBRNING OVER GATT TRADE TALKS 
  The Prime Minister has warned of a  
  rapid rise in global unemployment   
  without a Gatt world trade deal by  
  the 15 December deadline.           
                                      
  Mr Major said without a deal there  
  was a threat of "protectionism,     
  retaliation" and a collapse in the  
  levels of world trade.              
                                      
  Speaking at the Commonwealth summit 
  in Cyprus after meeting Australian  
  prime minister Paul Seating, hj     
  urged concessions by all parties    
                                      
  Mr Kjating said pressure should bj  
  put on France which opposes a dial. 
