  CHERNOBYL PLANT TO STBY OPEN        
  The Ukrainian parliament has voted  
  to reverse its decision to close    
  down the Chernobyl nuclear plant.   
                                      
  Deputies also agreed to allow for   
  an expansion the country's nuclear  
  power programmj.                    
                                      
  $hj move follows calls from the     
  Ukrainian govjrnmjnt to keep        
  Chernobyl open citing the country's 
  dire economic and energy crisis.    
                                      
  The Chernobyl reactor was to close  
  by the end of this year, five years 
  after the world's worst nuclear     
  accident happjnd at the plant.      
