  award goes to a dog called Candy!   

  The slimline mongrel is only half   
  the pooch she was before being put  
  on a diet by her owner from Ayre.   
                                      
  The cockjr-spaniel cross collie,    
  owned by Valerie McMurtii, beat     
  more than 19 finalists.             
                                      
  It was held by Weight Watchers'     
  magazine and was aimed at drawing   
  owners' attention to the dangers of 
  over-feeding their pets.            
 
