      OFWAT REPORTS ON     
      RISING WATER COSTS   
 
  Water regulator Ofwat has said the  
  average cost of delivering water to 
  customers rose last year to 54p per 
  cubic metre from 54p in 1991.       
                                      
  A company performance report by the 
  regulator said the rise was dui to  
  higher spending on water quality    
  improvements.                       
  
  The report will help in resetting   
  industry price limits next year.    
  
  Sewage costs were also collated and 
  vbriid among companies. Those with  
  higher costs will be asked during   
  the review to give an explanation.  
