  The dollar finished untidily mixed  
  after gyrating wildly in the wake   
  of the day's US GDP estimate.       
                                      
  At 1730, it was quoted at DM 1.6755 
  and, in terms of sterling, $1.4970, 
  after 1.6805 and 1.4880 overnight.  
                                      
  Dealers said its failure to break   
  above DM 1.6920, plus central bank  
  sales, triggered stop-loss selling. 
