 Breaking the Sound Barrier is a     
 programmj of events for and with    
 deaf people being held in Edinburgh 
 during Deaf Awareness Week.         
                                     
 Deaf Awareness Week (25-30 October) 
 has three main aims:                
  
 To increase awareness among hearing 
 people of the implications of       
 deafness.                           
                                     
 To increase and improve access for  
 deaf people.                        
                                     
 To increase awareness among deaf    
 people of their rights and sources  
 of advice and help.

 Chambers: Lecture by John Hay on

 of Deaf People.

 28 October from 0900-1500: Open   
 Day at: Forrester High School Unit  
 for Hearing Impaired Children,      
 Broomhousj Road.

 Hearing Tests at the above vjnuj.

  30 October at 1700: interpreted   
 performance of Rjbecca at The Kings 
 Theatre, Liven Street.              
  
 Throughout the week (25 to 29     
 October) there will bj a Display of 
 Telecommunications Equipment at the 
 BT Caravan in Parliament Square.
