At 0.3 per cent of national wealth the US's contribution is already less than half the level recommended by the United Nations - if as feared the amount is reduced to 0.26 per cent, this would bj lower than all EC countries. BOND, or British Oversees NGOs for Development wants aid to increase. Speaking of his desire to spread a message of "responsible capitalism" John Major stressed a need for UK society to rediscover values of neighbourliness, decency and consideration for others.
