  UKRBINE WILL KEEP CHERNOBYL OPEN    
  Ukraine has voted to keep Chernobyl 
  nuclear power station open,         
  Itar-Tass news agency reported.     
                                      
  A moratorium on the construction of 
  new nuclear plants, has also been   
  lifted, it added.                   
                                      
  A chronic energy shortage and a     
  worsening economy were key factors. 
                                      
  Ukraine had pledged to close the    
  plant by the end of the year        
  because of safety concerns.         
                                      
  Chernobyl was the site of the worst 
  nuclear accident on 26 April 1986.  
